google blocks malware sites!

In response to a blog post from the popular security software company Sunbelt, Google has removed from its search index thousands of malware websites that installed malware and spyware on unsuspecting computer users.  The blog post also said that the malware sites had seemingly manipulated google’s algorithm by forum postings and blog comments to get more traffic to these websites.

google knol–An encyclopedia!

Google now wants to start an encyclopedia called as the Google Knol where in people with expertise in a particular subject are requested to share their knowledge with the entire world. Google also proposes to have advertisements( well thats quite obvious) with the permission of the writers and then a substantial amount of the advertisement revenue will go to the writer or the contributor. Lets hope this revenue incentive will encourage people to share their knowledge.

So, here’s wishing Google all the best and lets hope this new encyclopedia is a success!!

google is looking for testimonials!

Google, in its latest blog post and also the red link that appears in RED in the right corner when you login to google asks you to tell them how do you feel about Gmail and how has Gmail helped you immensely.  You can mail them your “interesting story” or give a video testimonial and post it on Youtube, Google’s Video sharing Portal.

So, lets see how this works out to be especially after the first collaborative video for Gmail sometime ago. So, whether the video comes out good or not is a different aspect, one thing is sure, this will surely increase or atleast google hopes that this will increase the number of users on youtube as well as Gmail; now I know why they are called the “Moguls of Internet Marketing”!!

Yahoo messenger for vista preview

Yahoo messenger for Vista is available and the latest version seems to be quite a break through. I also kind of liked the latest Yahoo messenger version, The Yahoo Messenger 9.0 which is still in Beta but this version has several features which have been significantly improved from earlier yahoo messenger versions along with the all new GUI(Graphical user interface) which seems easy on the eyes.

The most striking  feature that I really liked about the Yahoo Messenger 9.0 Beta is that you can forward all your offline messages to a mobile number and can also forward your incoming calls to a phone line. However, the later that is the forwarding of incoming voice calls is a paid subscription based service and you need to have a Yahoo Phone out subscription.

However, you can check out the preview video of yahoo messenger for Vista here.  You can also view the latest yahoo messenger 9.0 beta video  preview here.
