You have probably browsed and used the internet for years now, whether chatting with your friends on Yahoo, Gtalk or MSN Live Messenger or using Social Networking websites like Orkut, LinkedIn and Facebook.You have searched the internet for years searching for what ever you need to find out and you have also heard stories of your friends or distant relatives or on the internet itself of how someone made a fortune from the internet via his website or via a blog. You have read all this and now you are wondering should you actually build a website or not? What should you do to build a website? How do you actually profit from your website? Well that’s what this website aims to deliver. To enable people know what they should do and what they shouldn’t do to build that ultimate website or write that great blog.
So now let’s answer two of the most prominent questions—
- Who should build a website?
- Why should you build a website?
Well lets answer these questions one by one.
Who should build a website?
The answer is simple. Just like you need a social security number or a Tax Id, these days it seems that having a website or a blog is equally important. Everyone these days right from a student, to someone who has a day job, to a small business to a large multi billion dollar enterprise need a website, however the purpose may vary. A student may need a website to show off to his peers in college or school or to share his pictures or write about his latest adventures to a small business to reach a larger audience and to gain as much customers as they can to a multi billion dollar enterprise to showcase their latest products, for customer care and for latest updates. So, one thing is crystal clear that in this cyber age a website is needed. Some of the most common examples of people who usually start a website are listed below.
- Professional Business: A professional business however big or small needs a website. You might have seen a company as big as Microsoft or Ford to someone who sells woolen clothes to make a living have a website.
- Students: Students use websites to share their projects and their ideas as well as to promote their hobbies and activities. Many of them use these websites to make new friends apart from social networking!
- Freelancers: Whether you are freelance programmer or a graphic designer or a freelance writer or anything that you do, you need to provide samples or portfolio for which a website helps a great deal. I am also a freelance programmer and I get a lot of my work from my website.
Thus, it is quite clear that whatever you do, a website these days is a necessity.
