Found this video on Youtube which misuses the “Street View” feature on Google Maps and gives incentives to perverts and voyeurs to do their thing.I hope google realises this threat and updates their system as soon as possible because otherwise google maps can be used for things for which it was NOT intended to be used!

Today, I logged into my account at Orkut and saw truck loads of SPAM scraps claiming that orkut is closing and that too the stupidest reason of all, lack of names:) , yea thats what the scrap claims to be and I was literally on the floor laughing because people actually send these SPAM scraps afraid that their orkut account will close and they will lose all their friends!
Here is a copy of the scrap that I received this evening–
“HEY ITS DIANNA, FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ORKUT,EVERYBODY SORRY FOR THEINTERRUPTION BUT ORKUT IS CLOSING THE SYSTEM DOWN BECAUSE TOO MANY BOTTERS ARE TAKING UP ALL THE NAMES, WE ONLY HAVE 57 NAMES LEFT,
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT, DONT SEND THIS MESSAGE, IF YOU WANT
TOKEEP YOUR ACCOUNT ,SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE ON YOUR LIST.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE, YOU’LL BE SORRY IF YOU DONT SEND IT. THANKS DIRECTOR OF ORKUT, TIM BUISKI. WHOEVER DOESNT SEND THIS MESSAGE, YOUR ACCOUNT WILLBEDEACTIVATED AND IT WILL COST YOU $ 10.00 A MONTH TO USE IT..”
After reading this scrap on orkut, i decided to do some research on this subject and therefore “Googled” the name TIM BUISKI, the supposed director of Orkut and found out that he along with orkut was the director of Yahoo and MSN as well:)
Here is an excerpt for Yahoo–
“the director of yahoo, Tim Buiski, Sorry for the interuption, but Yahoo is closing the system down because too many booters are taking up all the names, we only have 57 names left, if you would like to close your account, don’t send this mesage, if you want to keep your account, send this message to everyone on your list. This is no joke, you’ll be sorry you didn’t send it. Thanks, Director of Yahoo, Tim Buiski, WHOEVER DOESN’T SEND THIS MESSAGE YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DEACTIVATED AND IT WILL COST $10.00 A month to USE IT TO SEND ”
One thing you will find common here is that the text in both the messages is almost the same except for the name of the company and so is the message with MSN as well.
So, all I would like to tell people is that be safe and no internet giant, either Microsoft( that is MSN) or Yahoo or Google(i.e Orkut) will close its operations due to increase in traffic or lack of capability and increase in load. Infact, there is nothing that makes these companies happy than increase in traffic. So, sit back and relax, nothing is going to happen to your account whether its Orkut or Yahoo or MSN.

Orkut introduces new Privacy Features
Finally orkut has introduced a new set of privacy features that were much needed by the community especially in the wake of the latest crimes that we hear coming out of orkut! So, finally orkut has taken the initiative and has introduced privacy for scrapbook access, album(i.e Images) access as well as Video access. You can do this by going to the settings link in the left corner of your screen and then going to the “Privacy Tab”.
Another good thing that orkut has introduced is the Ask questions feature where in your friends can answer to questions that you have asked. Another thing that is noteworthy is the updates feature, where in you know the latest updates about your friends! This is very effective especially when your friends list goes into hundreds;)
I personally feel that orkut is standing up to the stiff competition from MySpace and Facebook as well as linkedIn when it comes to professional networking and the only thing that orkut should actively work upon is the OpenSocial API which is still in Beta and takes limited developers. I hope they open it for public as soon as possible.
Linux, for long has been thought to be a geeky affair and was widely believed that people with extra ordinary computer expertise can operate and work on Linux sufficiently. However, things are changing these days. Linux is getting strong support in the section of users who have stayed away from Linux for a long time-“The home users”. This has been made possible by very user friendly linux distributions like Ubuntu. Therefore, since a lot of users are working on Linux even at home it is essential that they should know the software that should be present on a linux based computer so that all its users can work with efficiently.
The good thing about linux is that many useful and essential and useful software come bundled with Linux and its large software repositories. These softwares are usually open source and therefore there is no licensing cost what so ever. However, I do feel that in order for users who need the similar set of softwares like they are accustomed to working on Windows, I think there is a need to explain a few softwares which I feel are essential to work efficiently and effectively on Linux. Hence I am giving a list of software that a user should download or have while using Linux. Remember, these software are for the “Layman” and doesn’t include any technical or development software.
The softwares discussed above describe the best communication software available on Linux and the best thing is yahoo messenger is integrated with MSN so you can chat with MSN users using Yahoo messenger from Linux. That’s interoperatibility in its true meaning.

Doing a few projects in PHP and MySQL, one of them being a gigantic backup utility project completely done using “Open Source” technologies and therefore, in the days to come will be working on a lot of open technologies and thus will have ample to write about the various open technologies.
